Wow so I’ve been so busy over the past month. Its crazy to think that its been one month already. I’ve seen God do some pretty crazy stuff and I’ve learned some pretty cool stuff. I know I should be blogging more but its been tough to actually sit down and write what I’m thinking. I’m gonna be here in Mexico for one more month and I’m gonna try to blog twice per week.
This first blog is just gonna be a rough outline of what my weekly schedule is and a couple of sweet stories.

7:00 am  — Exercise
If you know me well you know the one think I hate doing is waking up early. If I could I’d sleep in till noon everyday. That being said its so awesome to wake up everyday and see the sunrise every morning. We usually do some stretches first, then play a game (tag, dodge ball, kickball etc…)

8:00 am — Breakfast
Usually cereal or something along those lines. Then we have free time/ quite time to read our bibles or journal or do something like that.

9:00 am — Team Time
My S.A. (South Africa) team meets and talks about what’s going on with each of us. Usually this time is for talking about whatever kind of teaching we did the previous day but its not set in stone. A lot of the time we talk about our different ministries or pray for each other or w/e. You should go check out all of my team they are Garrett Berkley, Caitlyn Evangelista, Rebecca Florke, and Jenny Christensen.

10:00 am — Morning Ministry
This spot changes just about every week. Some times we go into Matamoros, Mexico and help do construction at a school there. Other times we have gone to the prison, the orphanage, or go hang out with people inside Matamoros. Recently we’ve been learning organic gardening and it has been awesome. Its so cool to see how God made all these plants and animals that when in an environment together protect and nurture each other.

12:00 pm — Lunch
So for lunch usually we have sandwiches. Either pp&j or ham and cheese or both.

1:00 pm — Free time
More time for us to do whatever. If we need to wash clothes this is usually the time we do that. We have to wash all of our clothes by hand which is surprisingly soothing, yet very tedious.

2:00 pm — Afternoon Ministry
The first week we got here each team was introduced to their host family. They all live in the Ajito (small farming village) that we stay at. We usually just go to their house and hang out with them. At first it was so hard because they don’t speak any English and we speak very little Spanish. But my Spanish has gotten so much better. Its crazy because I’ve learned more Spanish over the past one month then I did taking 2 semesters of Spanish in school. Selene is the mother in our family and she’s 8 months pregnant. She already has one daughter named Gallelea and she’s 5. Selene’s husband works 9 hours a day so we usually don’t see him. Selene is an amazing cook and she’s gonna cook me Chile Reano for my birthday.

5:00 pm — Dinner
Our cook Gilbert is really good. The food has been sweet. We do eat a lot of rice though. One time we had fresh pork.

8:00 pm — Teaching/ Discussion
We’ve talked about several different topics since we got here. We’ve been reading a couple books so a lot of the stuff is based off them. The first few weeks we were reading Exiles by Robert Frost which is a critique on the modern church. A lot of the stuff it talks about is really hard to swallow but it all in all it was really good. After that we started studying the Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster. He talks about several disciplines in Christianity and made me look at some things in ways I’ve never seen them. More recently we’ve been studying Theology. The book we read Across The Spectrum by Gregory Boyd and Paul Eddy. Both of them have polar opposite views on all the issues in the book and they each wrote a chapter on each issue.

10:00 pm — Free time
    Its free time duh.

The schedule is almost always tentative and can change week to week. On Fridays we don’t do teaching/ discussion we watch a movie. And Saturdays are our day off. We either go into America or Matamoros and hang out there. Sunday is obviously the Sabbath.

Hopefully I can get this blogging thing down if I don’t blog twice a week attack my face book and nag the crap out of me or something. Thanks for reading and I <3 my momma.
